Artur Liebhart receives the Golden Cross of Merits

Artur Liebhart - the founder and director of PLANETE+ DOC FF, received the Golden Cross of Merits from the President of Poland
On the 4th of June, during a reception at the Presidential Palace, Artur Liebhart – founder and director of PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL, one of the most important documentary film festivals in the world and one of the chief opinion-forming film events in Poland – received the Gold Cross of Merit from the Polish President Bronisław Komorowski.

During a celebration of the anniversary of the 1989 elections, the President awarded state decorations to persons who are actively developing Polish liberty in various walks of life: culture, business, and science. Aside from Artur Liebhart, distinctions were also granted to Kayah, Artur Rojek, Leszek Możdżer, Grzegorz Jarzyna, Katarzyna Nosowska, and others. The President also awarded foreign journalists who reported on the transitions in Poland (including Chris Niedenthal), foreign citizens who organized aid and goods for Poles, and members of the democratic opposition.

PLANETE+DOC FILM FESTIVAL
has celebrated its 10th edition this year (May 10-19). For the last two years it has expanded from its original seat in Warsaw to a simultaneous edition in Wroclaw, with screenings, panel discussions, concerts, meetings with filmmakers and other accompanying events. With over 37,000 tickets sold this year, PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL has become one of the most popular documentary film events in the world. It is also a member of the prestigious Doc Alliance – a partnership which emerged as a result of the co-operative effort of seven key European documentary film festivals.

Throughout the year, Artur Liebhart and his team distribute documentary films in cinemas, TV stations, on VOD and DVD, as well as run a free faculty based on documentary films at three universities in Poland.
