In May 2013 the plan to build a shopping center and mosque in the place of a small park next to Taksim Square in Istanbul provokes unexpected critique. In only a few days thousands of people start an occupation of Gezi Park triggering the spreading of anti-governmental protests across the country. "The Park" is a journey across Turkey during the "Twitter revolution". Its road starts in Istanbul and leads through major cities, which have joined the protests, such as Ankara, Izmir or Diyarbakir as well as provincial towns and remote villages where small communities are now divided along political lines. Conversations with their inhabitants illustrate their various concerns and hopes in face of a potential revolution, illustrating a conflict that is deeply rooted in the country’s history.
