As part of Night of Museums we will present the film “Cerro Torre: A Snowball’s Chance in Hell” – a history of climbing one of the least accessible mountains in the world. The first expedition in 1959 ended with the death of one of the alpinists, who allegedly had photos documenting reaching the summit. His camera was never found and until today the climbing world doubts whether the second climber – Maestri – indeed reached the summit. The following ascents were no less controversial.

The heroes of “Cerro Torre: A Snowball’s Chance in Hell” – David Lama and Peter Ortner – decided to reach the summit in a classical way, following the most severe rules, with a safety line as the only device. The film documents their way up the 10,262 ft high mountain.
