Maurice Steenbergen’s documentary “Oldschool Renegades”
describes the beginnings of the world culture created around dance electronic music – techno, house or rave. Since its inception in the 1980s, through its immense increase in popularity in the following decade, to the current days – several dozen artists, DJs and producers talk about the phenomenon they have co-created. Among them are members of The Prodigy, 808 State, Moby, Joey Beltram, Miss Djax, Technotronic or Hardfoor.
After the screening, a party inspired by the film will take place at Cafe Kulturalna. The evening will be hosted by Jacek Sienkiewicz
, one of the pioneers of Polish electronic music scene as well as the founder of the first Polish record label releasing techno music on vinyl records – Recognition Recordings – which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Jacek will be accompanied by Mic Ostap, a DJ who has been playing constantly since the beginning of the 1990s (www.recognition.pl
