Meeting: the director and a critic, after “Ai Weiwei: The Fake Case”

MAY 11
6:30 PM | Kinoteka
In Polish and English.
Free entry. Priority for holders of tickets for the screening preceding the event.

Ai Weiwei is one of the most recognisable contemporary artists and a strong voice of the Chinese opposition. For years he has been actively criticising the Chinese authorities and fighting for human rights. In April 2011 he was arrested and kept in an unknown place for 81 days. Andreas Johnsen’s film tells about the artist’s life after the imprisonment – his insomnia, memory losses, police supervision, but also about his work on the next installation. After the film a conversation between the director and Stach Szabłowski, an art critic, will take place.

Additionally, Szabłowski had prepared a set of questions to Ai Weiwei, to which the artist had responded in a short film which will be shown before every screening of “Ai Weiwei The Fake Case” during the festival.

Participants:

Andreas Johnsen – the director of “Ai Weiwei The Fake Case”
Stach Szabłowski – historian, art critic, publicist and a curator
Sigrid Dyekjær – producer of “Ai Weiwei The Fake Case”
