Erwin Wagenhofer is the author of some of the best known and most controversial documentaries of the recent years. His erudite films touch upon difficult subjects – they criticize the global food industry as well as economic and educational systems. Despite that, they draw masses to cinemas. It’s not often that a documentary is seen by more than 800 thousand people in Europe. The latest film of the master, “Alphabet”, will be screened as part of 3 x Erwin Wagenhofer section during the PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL. It will be accompanied by a masterclass.
What is the secret behind Wagenhofer’s films? How does he manage to combine factual critic of reality with film art? In his films the director puts together very thorough approach to subjects, penetrating observation of essential problems of today’s world as well as rhythm, poetics and films’ visual aspect. The meeting with the master will be moderated by a film critic Agnieszka Wiśniewska.
