“The Venice Syndrome” is a story of millions of tourists “raiding” Venice. The town is visited by several million people a year, yet its residents are fewer and fewer. Venice turns into a ghost-town. Tourism “eats” its monuments and makes it another Disneyland. The film inspires a discussion about where tourism is headed. In the era of accessible and easy travels, will other historically or environmentally attractive places share the fate of Venice?

Andreas Pichler – director of “The Venice Syndrome”
prof. Anna Wieczorkiewicz – from University of Warsaw, deals with anthropology and ethnology of tourism and travels
Maria Brzezińska – traveller, editor of “Podróże” monthly
Ewa Sufin-Jacquemart – sociologist, graduated from University of Warsaw and University of sorbonne. she runs the company Respons and manages the Foundation „strefa Zieleni” which advises how to support sustainable development and how to counteract the negative effects of mass tourism.
