Peter Mettler, a documentalist, photographer and visual artist, is a special guest of this year’s PLANETE + DOC Film Festival. His latest film “The End of Time”, in which the director takes audience for a breathtaking journey through time and space, competes in the main competition for the Millenium Award, as well as for the Canon Cinematography Award for the best cinematography.
During his masterclass, moderated by a well-known film critic Kuba Mikurda, Peter Mettler will present his vision of the documentary cinema, philosophy and work methods, including filming and editing strategies, research methods, connections of film with music, as well as sound and picture mixing and presentation. The lecture will be accompanied by fragments of Mettler’s films.
During this year’s festival you can also see a retrospective of Mettler’s films and three exhibitions: in Warsaw near the Museum of Technology and in the hall of Iluzjon cinema, in Wroclaw in Niskie Łąki club.
Peter Mettler, together with a world-famous musician Fred Frith, will also give a live show in the Studio Theatre in Warsaw on Monday, May 11, where he’ll be mixing his pictures.
Masterclasses are organised with the support of MEDIA Desk Poland. Masterclass partners are: Canon, Wajda School, Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission, the “FilmPRO” magazine.
