Once again, PLANETE+ DOC FF will give out the Canon Cinematography Award to the best cinematographer. The winning film will receive 4 000 euros. Films will be judged by a jury consisting of: Artur Reinhart, Tomasz Wolski and Michał Englert. The award is funded by Canon Poland.

Artur Reinhart
Born in 1965 in Kluczbork. Cinematographer, editor and producer. Studied directing, then cinematography at the National Film School in Lodz (PWSFTviT) in 1988-92. Perceived as one of the most creative Polish cinematographers of the mid generation. His first feature movie as a cinematographer was Piotr Łazarkiewicz’s “Time for Witches” (1993). He did cinematography for films by Dorota Kędzierzawska, Krzysztof Lang, Marcel Łoziński, Paweł Łoziński, Jacek Petrycki. Winner of two Golden Frogs at the Plus Camerimage FF, Eagle, Polish Film Award for best cinematography and Golden Lion at the Gdynia Film Festival in the same category. Member of Polish Filmmakers Association. His far-from-reality shooting style is characterized by exceptional awareness of details and beauty.

Tomasz Wolski
Born 1977 in Gdynia. Director, screenwriter, cinematographer, sound designer, documentary editor. Graduate of the Department of Journalism at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Finished the course of documentary filmmaking at Wajda School (2002). Likes working alone or with a small crew. His actual debut was “Clinic” (2006) won Jean Vigo Award at Punto de Vista festival in Pampeluna. Awarded at last year’s PLANETE+ DOC FF for his “Palace” (2012) with the Canon Cinematography Award for the best cinematographer “for a consistent and visually raw story about persisting and degradation of symbols”.

Joanna Stankiewicz
Graduate of International Relations at Warsaw University and Digital Media Production at the National Film School in Lodz (PWSFTviT), working at Canon Poland since 2010. Her responsibilities include public relations and marketing communications management. In her work she values interacting with art and other people, finding Canon’s motto “We speak image” very much in line with her interests. She has worked with photography and media throughout her career. Between 1995 and 2010 she worked as photography editor and web designer.
