"Not for Everyone" is an inside look into one of the most interesting international music festivals in Poland – the Warsaw Autumn. The film is composed of long takes from rehearsals, we merely get to hear random remarks from musicians and technical staff every once in a while. We do not, however, hear any commentary from the creators of the film: Tomasz Wolski and Piotr Stasik. Images change as the camera travels as if unnoticed by everyone. Each concert or performance is preceded by months of seemingly irrelevant activities. Not for Everyone puts them in the spotlight.
The Warsaw Autumn is a world-renowned contemporary music festival, organized in Poland since 1956. For years it was the only event in Central and Eastern Europe which drew attention of luminaries of contemporary music. This gave the audience a chance to become familiar with new musical trends in the West, while Western composers, critics and musicologists travelled to Warsaw to immerse in the musical culture of the Eastern Bloc countries.
