About the film

A film montage which contains video material from the 1950s and 1960s – news broadcasts, propaganda, television programmes and feature films – in order to offer an evocative cross section of Soviet society at the time. From industry to agriculture, from technology to politics and culture, this documentary expresses the hardships and deprivations of the people who, nevertheless, at the same time put their faith in an illustrious future for Mother Russia.
