Competitions: Doc Art Award


For the second time PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL will give out the Doc Art Award and 1, 000 euros. The winning film will be chosen by a jury consisting of Sebastian Cichocki, Jacek Tomczuk and Natalia Sielewicz.

Jury

Sebastian Cichocki

Born 1975, based in Warsaw. Deputy Program Director at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Between 2005 and 2008 Program Director at „Kronika” Center for Contemporary Art in Bytom. Exhibitions curated by Cichocki include: „Yael Bartana ... and Europe will be Stunned” at the 54th International Art Biennale in Venice (2011); “Early Years” at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2010); “Daniel Knorr. Awake Asleep”, Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw (2008); “Monika Sosnowska. 1:1”, Polish Pavilion at the 52nd International Art Biennale in Venice (2007); „Yiinane Calovski and Hristina Ivanoska. Oskar Hansen’s Museum of Modern Art”, Kronika, Bytom (2007); “Sculpture Park in Bródno”, Bródno Park, Warsaw (2009–2011) as well as “Warsaw Under Construction” festival (editions between 2009-2011). Author of critical essays and fiction literature about art. He has published in „Artforum”, “Cabinet, Mousse”, “Krytyka Polityczna”, “FUKT”, “Muzeum”, “WAW”, “Czas Kultury”, “IDEA arts+society”, “Camera Austria” and other culture periodicals. Editor of „Format P”, a quarterly in the humanities. His recent publications include the anthology „A Cookbook for Political Imagination” (with Galit Eilat), opera libretto “Wystawy mówione” (“Spoken Exhibits”) with Michal Libera, Grzegorz Piątek and Jarosław Trybuś), Format P's “The Future of Art Criticism as Pure Fiction”, and “S.Z.T.U.K.A” - a guidebook to contemporary art for children.



Jacek Tomczuk

Journalist writing about art, photography and literature. Currently affiliated with “Przekrój” weekly, previously – with “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Dziennik” newspapers and “City Magazine”. He also wrote for “Res Publica Nova”. Co-author of a book on Komuna Otwock published in „Krytyka Polityczna Guidebook” series. Graduate of the Theater Academy in Warsaw, where he received his MA title for a thesis about the relation of Tadeusz Kantor's theater to Jewish gnosis.




Natalia Sielewicz

Art historian and curator. Studied at Courtauld Institute of Art and Central Saint Martins College in London, grant holder at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. Over the past few years she has collaborated with galleries and museums in the UK, Germany and the US. “Kinomuzeum” film program curator at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw devoted to most interesting phenomena bordering on cinema, video art and experimental film. She is currently preparing an exhibition about relations between visual arts and music, which Warsaw's Museum of Modern Art will present at this year's Open'er Festival.
