Competitions: Chopin's Nose Award


This year’s festival will be the third edition to hold a competition for the best music film. The winning film will receive the Chopin’s Nose Award and 1,000 euros. The winning film will be selected by a jury consisting of Bartek Chaciński, Mikołaj Ziółkowski and Andrzej Matusiak.

Bartek Chaciński

Journalist of “Polityka” weekly, music critic, contributor to Polish National Radio and “Polifonia” blog. Wrote series of books on changes occurring in the language of Polish youth (his most recent publication is “Totalny słownik najmłodszej polszczyzny”/”A Total Dictionary of the Youngest Polish Language”) as well as of the book “Wyż nisz” (“The Rise of Niches”) devoted to the phenomenon of small cultures and cultural niches.


Mikołaj Ziółkowski

Head of Alter Art – the largest independent promoter of music, art and entertainment-related events in Poland. Mikołaj Ziółkowski has won the trust of the world's biggest stars, independent musicians, city mayors and agents, but most importantly – that of hundreds of thousands of music fans. Heineken Open'er Festival, founded 10 years ago and run by Ziółkowski, has become an internationally-recognized export product for the city of Gdynia and the whole of Poland. Open'er has also been noticed outside Poland, receiving the Best Major Festival title twice at European Festival Awards. Other Alter Art festivals, such as Selector Festival and Coke Live Music Festival in Cracow, attract good music fans from even the most remote corners of Europe and the world. Ziółkowski's achievements have also been recognized by “Wprost” weekly, which included him in its list of 100 most influential Poles.



Andrzej Matusiak

Manager, activist and promoter of Polish culture. Graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, he has received scholarships from Goethe Institute in Berlin and Hamburg. He has completed LSI courses in Toronto and Leysin American School in Switzerland. Since 1990, he has worked as director of Stołeczna Estrada, one of the oldest cultural institutions in Poland. Creator of hundreds of stage shows, co-organizer of Poland's largest festivals, initiator of a number of mass events in Warsaw. Producer and co-founder of Warsaw's Cross Culture Festival. For over 10 years, he has been actively promoting Polish culture in Poland and abroad. Creator and director of prestigious multimedia shows „Chopin at the Pyramids” in Cairo and “Rock Loves Chopin” at the Great Wall in Beijing. Recipient of the Silver and Gold Crosses of Merit from the Polish President.
