Competitions: Lower Silesia Grand Prix – The Marshall of Lower Silesia Award


For the first time PLANETE+ DOC FILM FESTIVAL in cooperation with the cultural institution Odra-Film, is also organizing the Festival in Wroclaw. A jury, consisting of Przemysław Wojcieszek, Magda Podsiadły and Lambros Ziotas, will give out the Lower Silesia Grand Prix - The Marshall of Lower Silesia Award - 3000 euro to the winning film from the Millennium Competition.
Award is founded by the Marshall of Lower Silesia.

Award Ceremony: Lower Silesia Grand Prix – The Marshall of Lower Silesia Award, will be held after screening of the film „We are Legion”,May 20, Sunday,7 p.m., Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe

Jury

Przemysław Wojcieszek

Born in 1974. Film and theatre director, screenwriter. Debuted as the screenwriter for Witold Adamiak’s “Poniedziałek” (“Monday”, 1998). He has directed, among others: “Głośniej od bomb” (“Louder Than Bombs”, 2001), “W dół kolorowym wzgórzem” (“Down the Colourful Hill”, 2004), “Made in Poland” (2010) and “Sekret” (“Secret “, 2012). He also wrote all his movies. He’s the recipient of the Paszport Polityki award in the “Film” category. He also received the Gdynia Film Festival award for directing “Down the Colourful Hill”. He’s a successful theatre director (Teatr Polski in Wrocław, Teatr Dramatyczny in Legnica, Teatr Rozmaitości in Warsaw). His most acclaimed plays are: “Made in Poland”, “Cokolwiek się zdarzy, kocham cię” (“Whatever Happens, I Love You”), and “Dwoje biednych Rumunów mówiących po polsku” (“Two Poor Romanians Who Speak Polish”) written by Dorota Masłowska.



Magda Podsiadły

Born in Wroclaw, daughter of two local artists: painter Krystyna Michałowska-Podsiadły and sculptor Prof. Leon Podsiadły. Reporter for the culture section of the Wroclaw edition of Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper (since 1990, when she co-founded the section and served as its editor-in-chief for over a decade). She spent her childhood in West Africa (Conakry, Guinea), but graduated in Polish Studies at Wroclaw University (writing her MA thesis about the cinema of Edward Żebrowski). She is interested in the theater and cinema of francophonic Africa (her publications on these topics appeared in Didaskalia and Kino magazines), as well as in the culture of indigenous ethnic groups in West Africa (she collaborates with Brave Festival Wroclaw). Apart from journalism, Podsiadły works as a photographer, with over a dozen individual exhibitions under her belt in venues including BWA Awangarda Gallery, Wroclaw's Ethnographic Museum and the National Museum in Szczecin. All the exhibitions were devoted to everyday life and customs of the African people.




Lambros Ziotas

Born in Szczecin, based in Wroclaw. Graduated from the Film School (PWSFTviT) Lodz. Film producer, owner of the production company Argomedia Production. Since 2011, member of the Council of the Polish Film Institute. Among his latest film productions are the multiple award-winning “Daas” (dir. A. Panek), “Afonia i pszczoły” („Afonia and the Bees”, dir. J. J. Kolski), and „Fundacja” („Foundation”, dir. F. Bajon). He also worked as Jan Jakub Kolski’s assistant director on films such as: “Szabla Komendanta”)“The Commanders Sword”, “Cudowne miejsce” (“A Wondrous Place”), “Johnnie Waterman”.
